T h e establishment of this council s h o w s that
Monash students are interested in forging their
o w n identity.They are willing to take the
opportunity to establish a d e m o c r a t i c
constitution for the student organisation that
will eventually b e c o m e part of the Monash
University Federation of Student Organizations
( M U F S O ) .
Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor James W a r r e n
said that M U F S O is a body that connects
all student organisations on each of the
Monash campuses and through this council,
the University expects its students to share
the learning e x p e r i e n c e of Monash University
Monasl ouncli in Malaysia.
T h e Pro-Temp C o u n c i l is organising activities
A t e m p o r a r y student council has been established to for the students to encourage inter-faculty
represent the voices of the student community in Monash interaction that will enhance the collegiate
University, Malaysia. Called the Pro-Temp C o u n c i l , the body environment at the University. A t the same
w a s established with 20 pioneer students. time, they are also organising an election
campaign for the first official student council
of Monash University, Malaysia.

and c o m m e n c e d w i t h a week-long Inter-Faculty Badminton
T o u r n a m e n t .
Students from different degree programs, namely Bachelors of
Business and C o m m e r c e , C o m p u t e r Science, Engineering,
Science (Biotechnology), Science (Environmental
Management), Business and Information Technology and
C o m m u n i c a t i o n , w e r e invited t o participate.
Response from the students w a s very good with m o r e than
70 students signing up, forming six teams t o c o m p e t e in t h e
t o u r n a m e n t . Each t e a m played 3 men singles, 2 men doubles, I
w o m e n doubles and 1 mix doubles.
T h e t o u r n a m e n t opened d o o r s for m o r e inter-faculty
tudent Activities Kic interaction, encouraging much camaraderie amongst students
with Badminton Tournament f r o m different fields of studies.
O n e of the team captains, O n g C h o o n g Leo, said the players
w e r e most competitive. W e have a lot of good players amongst

o u r peers and it felt really good to be able t o compete and at
the same time make n e w friends on the court," he said.
