VENTURES INTO

BRICK MANUFACTURING

In March 1997, Sungei Way Bricks Sdn Bhd S W B ) , a subsidiary of Sungei Way Quarry
Industries Sdn Bhd successfully embarked on its first brick manufacturing project at Semenyih
Quarry. Its production capacity is approximately 5,000 pieces of bricks per hour on a single
shift.

The process of SWB's brick production utilises soil overburden at quarry sites. This soil
overburden is processed into a fine material and mixed with cement and then pressed under
extreme pressure into bricks. The resultant product does not require firing and therefore is
environment-friendly. •

This "Unbaked Brick" has been tested by S I R I M and it exceeds Malaysian Standard MS76 for
common bricks. Our unbaked brick is consistent in quality, competitive in price, has high
compressive strength and low water absorption which makes it an obvious choice for
construction of high-rise buildings, drainage structures, factories, houses' pavements and other
building structures.

Venturing into brick manufacturing adds yet another value-added business to The SungeiWa
Group's diversified activities especially when the Group's main business is in propcrt
development and construction.
