VISION 2020 : THE WAY FORWARD

Address entitled "Vision 2020 : The Way Forward" at the Kongress Kebangsaan Wawasan
Y A B Prime Minister stressed the need to develop Malaysia economically, politically, soci;
spiritually, psychologically and culturally. He further called on the people to play a stronger role
make the Vision a reality. The Congress was not to revise the latter but to discuss how Malaysia (
progress as quickly and as productively as possible to the targets set for 2020. All the nine challer
of Vision 2020 were discussed extensively by the delegates and key-players.

The two-day national event was held on 29 - 30 April at Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel, the offic
hotel. It was jointly organised by the Prime Minister's Department, Institute of Strategic
International Studies ISIS) Malaysia and Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute ASLI), undent

auspices of the Malaysian Business Council. The Congress was attended by approximate!}
delegates comprising Cabinet Ministers, State Councillors, leading businessmen, senior govemi
officials and youth leaders.

The highlight of the Congress was the workshop session where recommendations resulting from
frank discussions were later presented to the Prime Minister during the Closing Ceremony. Similarl\
Y A B Prime Minister also held an Open Dialogue session with the attendees before declaring the
Congress close.
