Tfie 2-day session,  held on 21  &  22  August was a  success! Auto 911  was  invited  to
                                         promote tfiis workshop  as tfiey educate members on car maintenance and talk on road
                                         safety. This exciting workshop  was attended by more thian twenty members.

                                         The  workshop  started  with Auto 911  service provider  and later  hands-on Car
                                         Demonstration  by Mr  Azman, an automotive  expert.  The  highlight of  the  event was  the
                                         'Safety  Talk'  presented  by Sarjan  Mejar  Mohammed Babjan from Polis Trafik  Petaling
                                         Jaya.  Some members even checked  if  they had outstanding  road  summons!

                                         At  the  end of  the  workshop,  lucky draw winners  received Auto 911  T-shirts as
                                         souvenirs.  The  next  similar  workshop  to  look  out  for  is  the  AAM  Car Workshop  to
                                         be  held  sometime  in  November.

   sntioi) were  treated  to  lunch and a  swimming  pool  party  at Sunway  Lagoon
    on  13th  August.

   ise children were  treated  to  an  afternoon  of  fun,  games and entertainment  by
    member, Ms  Patricia  Tan,  who  contributed  by  singing  lovely and  lively  songs
    danced with  the  kids.  She  also  presented  a  Delilac game  set  to  the Centre.
    Club's  restaurant  caterer, Mr  Adrian  Suan Wee Wah  was also generous  in
   3viding  o  sumptuous  meal and chocolates for  these  special  children.

  IS Charity  event has been one  of  the  most  awaited event  to  promote  goodwill
  long Club  members and the  less  fortunate.  The  Club  plans  to  set  up  a  charity
  immittee  involving  members,  in  line  with  the Club's aim  to  motivate  members
   10 are caring and loving  to  do their  bit  for  society.

                                 Appointed           to   HDAM'is        Council of         Advisors
  ^STRATEGY  &  LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE


   Bhg Tan Sri  Dato'  Seri  Dr  Jeffrey  Cheah was appointed  to the Housing  Developers Association Malaysia's  (HDAM) Council of Advisors  recently
  'advise  the President, Executive  Committee and  the National  Council  of HDAM on matters pertaining  to the industry  and  the Association.

  ^er  Council Advisors  include Y.  Bhg Tan Sri  Wan Azmi Wan Hamzah  of  Land  & General  Berhad;
  •  Bhg Tan Sri  Dato'  Lim Yan Hai of  Bolton Berhad;  Y.  Bhg Tan Sri  Dato'  Lee Shin  Cheng of 101
   'roup; and Y  Bhg Tan Sri  Dato'  Abdul  Khalid Ibrahim of Kumpulan Guthrie Berhad.   'A
    appointment was officially announced by YAB Dato'  Seri  Abdullah Hj.  Ahmad  Badawi
   July 5th,  1999  at the National Housing  Summit jointly  organised by HDAM and ASLI.  i
  ^••he conference,  the Deputy Prime Minister  urged  bankers  and  developers  to build houses
  "ot are affordable  to the lower-income group and  not give excuses  to deprive  them of this
  "^^ic need.  He urged developers  to review their  strategies to  meet popular  demands  for
  'fusing in  the lower and  middle ends.  Dato'  Seri  Abdullah  also asked financial  institutions  to
  ^'ew their  lending policies and  practices,  including  the conventional  repayment schemes.

  P^sr  250  delegates  attended the conference.  Some of the  issues  discussed  included  "Towards Self-Regulation of the Property Industry",
  ^"-ntical Assessment of the Property Market -  Current Stock, Future Demand",  "Housing  the Poor -  The Malaysia  Inc. Way", and
  ^ Critical  Review  of the  Role of the Public and  Private  Sectors in  the Provision  of Infrastructure Services  for Housing  Development".
